HORSE PACKING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA | Rick Ferrante
The success of the TV series YELLOWSTONE has led to a renewed interest in horse riding nationwide. How appropriate that our November presenters will be saddling up and taking us on a horse ride to the most beautiful spots in our state. Leave those SUVs at base camp, jump on to Nature’s four wheel drive and head to the Sierra Nevada. In the words of Rick Ferrante and Gary Scott: “There is just something about a clear stream dancing over sharp grey granite, under a canopy of pines, at 10,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Even without the spectacular fishing - a day in the backcountry will make anyone feel completely alive and in the moment.” Even if you have equinophobia (look it up) or have not been on horseback since the pony rides at Griffith Park, there is always room for more adventure in your life. Your horse awaits you.
Their presentation is about fly fishing trips done via horse pack. In this visually exciting show, they will go over the planning and preparation needed for this kind of trip as well as what it is like to travel by horseback and camp in the wilderness. And they will of course discuss the fishing. There will be detailed coverage of the techniques, strategy, and gear they have used to get the most out of this special trip right here in California.
