The Goals of Our Steelhead Campaign & Community Presentation
- To tell the story of steelhead in our Santa Barbara region, from its long history with indigenous peoples thousands of years ago, to their current near extinction existence.
- To help residents understand that this fishery is one to be cherished and protected for their beauty, complexity & unique life history.
- To inform the Santa Barbara community about their role in the effort to prevent extinction, and begin the recovery of steelhead.
- To demonstrate that the solutions for steelhead recovery are in our hands, and it’s up to us to protect this iconic species.
- To show the people of Santa Barbara County what a recovery project looks like.
- To ask people to sign up and help us push for steelhead recovery in our region.
